Baby Update

Just came from the hospital.  All is going along splendidly!!  Cayla is beautiful!  Grace can't wait to get home tomorrow.  With all of the nurses and doctors, etc. coming and going she has been having a hard time getting any rest and the nurse won't even let her turn the light off at night.  So between 9 and 10 am tomorrow Grace, Cayla, and Jeff will go home!  Jeff has been great through this whole thing and has the week off.  Grace is still sore but looks almost normal and thin after delivery,  she's so lucky!

Here is a taste of photo's to come of our baby.  Grace will have tons when she updates tomorrow!  Enjoy!!

Baby Markey

For those of you who may be checking in about Grace.  Here is the update:    IT'S A GIRL!!!!!!!!!!

Grace was a real trooper.  From when her water broke until delivery she wnet 26 hours with no medications for pain at all. They had to apply a topical med to her cervics to get it to dialate.  But that was what ultimately got her to deliver.  We do not know the weight of Cayla yet because she had not been weighted when we left but she was very healthy and beautiful when we saw her.  Cayla Faith Jacqueline Markey has Grace's colored hair and her nose.  Grace didn't get the water birth that she wanted but that was because when Grace stared pushing she was still in bed and they didn't have time to get her into the tub before Cayla's head popped out.  The doctor nearly didn't make it into the room.  Its was a beautiful thing!  Grace and Jeff were ecstatic.  Grace is doing fine.

For all of us it was a very emotional night of laughting and crying and praying.  While in the waiting room we got to pray for and even with some others who were there experiencing their familiy births, some preemies.  Please pray for one couple whose baby was delivered at 27 weeks because their placenta ruptured.  Momma and baby almost died from loss of blood and baby is nip and tuck right now.  I don't know their name but they need your prayers.  Mom need surgery to repair tears in he ruterus and baby needed a transfusion and is having breathing problems.  We prayed with and for them while there.

We arrived home about 4:45 am this morning.  Grace's Aunt Tamara and Emily have a 11:00 am flight out today so they haven't gotten a lot of sleep, but they got to see Cayla before leaving.  Of course we all took off work today.  We will go back to see Grace later today and to decorate her townhouse.and get Cayla's official weight.  My guess is she was in the high 6 pound range or low 7s.  I'll let you know.  Keep tuned in!

(Please excuse spelling - I'm ding this with just a few hours sleep and no glasses on.)

UPDATE:  Cayla weighs 7 pounds 5 ounces and is 19 1/2 inches long.  Let's all say "Awwwwww".

Kids Say the Darndest Things

I have a couple of funny things that my K students have said this week.  I was just tired enough to think that they were hysterical.  So though you may not get the joke entirely because you weren't there, I just had to share!

I had the kids draw a self-portrait which is something I do each year so that parents can see the changes in them throughout the year when they draw another self-portrait at the end of the year.  Anyway one little boy (Kyle) brings his up to my desk.  It is all in orange.  On the portrait his eyes are round and "buggy" looking and his hair is standing on end.  I said, "Kyle, thats an interesting picture of yourself.  Can you tell me about it?"  Kyle said that it was him but he was being electrocuted, which explained the buggy eyes and hair sticking up.  That just cracked me up.

I was doing lunch duty on Friday, picking up garbage from the students.  I said "Excuse me" to a little Chinese boy in my class as I reached over to take his garbage.  He said, "Mrs. Chance, I can say excuse me in Italian."  I figured this should be interesting coming from a Chinese boy so I said, "Ben,  tell me what Excuse me is in Italian".  Ben said,  "It's  Excuse-a Me-a".  Well, I was expecting the real thing so that just caught me off guard and had me laughing the rest of the day.  It was just too cute.

I have a great class this year and am having some fun with them!  FINALLY!             Have some fun this week!

Once again, I have taken my good old time posting.  I guess my life has gotten so busy these days that I just haven't take the time to post.  Oh well,  I know you all lead busy lives as well.

I now have Grace and Jeff staying with us until they get their new place.  It's beginning to look good right now for the latest that they made an offer on.  Be praying!  Grace is looking more and more pregnant all the time.  She is so tall and thin that it has taken some time for baby to show his/her presence in the form of a bump on her belly, hehe!

I figured I better post now because school is starting this Wednesday.  I don't think the summer was long enough!!  I guess I have a pastor's wife's heart and I'll miss doing all the things I got to do this summer in that role.  Someday soon I hope to be able to be a full time pastor;s wife, but for now I need to work to make ends meet.

Our summer was great fun with our trip to Tennessee, Mississippi, and Louisiana and VBS etc.  If flew by.  You can see the newest addition to our family.  Gail and Joe got themselves a new puppy "Tiki".  He is half Black Lab and half German Shepherd.  He is soooooooooo cute!!!  But I don't think I want a dog still.  Too much work.

Speaking of work,  Grace will temporarily be working at my school in the office part time!  Don't know how long that will last but it will be fun having her there for a while!

I'll check in with you guys soon again!  Enjoy September.
